Maya Ubud Resort and Spa @ Ubud, Bali

I visited Maya Ubud Resort and Spa in Bali back in 2010, and it remains one of my favourite tropical resorts in Asia. This was recommended by my ex-boss who is Indonesian, and since he is local, I booked Maya Ubud without researching much, and it was a very good recommendation indeed! I had an enjoyable relaxing stay with Miss A, and fond memories of the resort still lingering after almost 4 years. It was also the first time I went to Bali not for the beach, but for mountains and scenery. The Spa (Spa at Maya) is possibly the MOST relaxing spa I have ever gone to in my life.

Maya Ubud is ~1 hour from Bali’s  international airport. It only has 108 luxury guestrooms and private pool villas on many hectares of land, with a river running through the resort, so it is extremely private, quiet and picturesque.

We stayed in the lowest tier room  in Maya Ubud  (Superior Room) and it was already very comfortable. The room was ~40 square meters, with 2 single beds, with a balcony overlooking the rice terraces of Peliatan. The room was already so comfortable, I can only imagine what the villas must be like!

The Spa at Maya is my most relaxing spa experience I have had to date. Firstly, the Spa is set at a higher ground compared to the rest of the resort, so from the spa, one gets an amazing view of the resort and the infinity pool.

Secondly, every pavilion in the spa faces the rainforest river valley on one side and the vertical green valley wall on the garden, so I truly felt like I was in an outdoor rainforest enjoying my massage. After the relaxing massage, we took an alternative route to get back to the main resort by descending to the river valley level, which was very calm and tranquil environment to stroll along.

I love the 2 infinity pools in Maya Ubud with stunning relaxing greenery views. Great to chill, read and think!

Other than the resort, Maya Ubud offers free cycling tours around the resort, around the padi fields. We also went for white-water rafting with an external agency. There were so many activities but we only chose a few so we could also rest and relax!

If I get to visit Ubud again, will definitely been keen to re-visit Maya Ubud Resort and Spa for its tropical beauty again!
